Hillary Aizenman, J.D., will explore the historical origins of racism and how
systemic racism has been built into the fabric of our constitution, society, and
criminal justice system. She will discuss how racism and poverty affect the
criminal justice system, the police killing of civilians, and the Black Lives Matter
movement, and what we can do to reform the criminal justice system.

Hillary Aizenman is a Boulder native and fifth generation Jewish Coloradoan. Her
parents, Barbra and Morris Cohn, were founding members of Bonai Shalom. She
has practiced law as a criminal defense attorney for 10 years, six of which were as a Public Defender. She graduated third in her class at the University of Colorado Law School, received a Master of Science in Human Rights from the London School of Economics, and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and minors in Afro- American Studies and French. She enjoys hiking, playing guitar and, most of all, spending time with her husband and two daughters.
