HIAS (Hebrew Aid Society) Refugee Shabbat Weekend is March 5-7. The social action committees of Bonai Shalom and Har HaShem will be hosting a screening of the film, Welcome Strangers, a documentary about Sarah Jackson, founder of Casa de Paz, a volunteer-run shelter for refugees and asylum-seekers. When immigrants are released from the ICE detention center in Aurora, Sarah and her team welcome them with food, clothing and shelter and help reunite them with their families.

The film screening will be free. Registration will allow you to enjoy the film from your own home any time between March 3-7. When you register, you will receive both a Vimeo link to screen the film and a Zoom link to join a panel discussion on Sunday, March 7 at 4:00 pm with Sarah Jackson, Executive Director of Casa de Paz and Dia Sokol Savage, the film’s director.

While the program is free, donations to Bonai are always welcome! Click HERE to make a one-time donation.
