Welcome to our new Executive Director, Nate Shapiro!
Nate Shapiro will be joining the Bonai Shalom family as Executive Director in August. He comes to us from Omaha, Nebraska where he served as Executive Director of Temple Israel, a Reform Synagogue, and Beth Israel, an Orthodox Synagogue, before that.
Prior to managing synagogues, Nate served as Director of Development for the Jewish Federation of Omaha.
Born and raised in Wayne, Nebraska, Nate graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln (Go Big Red!), with a degree in English and a minor in Judaic Studies. Nate paused his college career to serve as a Lone Soldier in the IDF from 2008 - 2010. After graduation, Nate managed a group home for folks with developmental disabilities before moving to Omaha, NE to further his nonprofit administration career.
Outside of his primary career track, Nate was involved in planning the Omaha Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professional’s (YP) Summit, chairing the summit in 2019. He also served as the president of the advisory board of the Schwalb Center for Israel and Judaic Studies at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Nate is very excited to partner with Rabbi Marc and Rav Jacob, the staff, and the lay leadership to fundraise and build the new building. He looks forward to serving the community to ensure that Bonai Shalom continues to meet and exceed the needs and desires of the membership.
