Vote for a Green Israel in the Jewish Parliament
01/18/2015 02:18:32 PM
Did you know that there is an International Parliament of the Jewish People? It represents all of us and we can all vote and be represented in Israel. The elections for the World Zionist congress are happening right now and you can make your voice heard by voting to influence Israel’s future.
I am proud to be on the slate for the Green Zionist Alliance, which is the first and only organization focused on the environment ever to participate in the World Zionist Congress, and we need your votes to build our strong presence! In 2010, the GZA secured three seats at the 36th World Zionist Congress — a big step up from 2002, when we held one delegate for the 34th Congress, and 2006, when we won two delegates for the 35th Congress. You can see our platform for the 37th World Zionist Congress on our website, and scroll down the page for previous platforms.
Meet the full 2015 slate of delegate candidates on Aytzim’s website here.
The Green Zionist Alliance has been embraced by all streams of the Zionist movement — left to right, secular to orthodox — leading to what many referred to in 2006 as “the Green Congress.” Though our Congress delegations have been small, we have passed seven environmental resolutions at the last two Congresses, and we have appointed some of Israel’s leading environmental activists to the board of directors of Keren Kayemet L’Yisrael / Jewish Narional Fund in Israel.
Some of you may feel more inclined to vote for the Zionist arm of Conservative Judaism, Mercaz, which is totally fine too, but I do urge everyone to use their Jewish vote in this election, and I invite you to consider a vote for a green, sustainable Israel! Voting is from January 15th to April 30th Vote today.
