Pirkei Avot is a key rabbinic text for building an ethical frame in the living of a conscious life. Exploring and discussing these words of wisdom brings insight, connection, and life to those who delve into the text. In this learning laboratory, we will learn skills of exegesis (critical interpretation skills) to enhance our learning. We will learn how to study the Hebrew (language skills not necessary, although you need to know the Hebrew letters) and review relevant commentaries to enhance understanding. This lab is a precursor to another Bonai Shalom series geared toward studying Pirkei Avot as a community.
