The global imperative to moderate climate change by transitioning the world’s energy use from fossil-based fuels to renewable energy is being universally recognized and implemented with increasing urgency. One major objective -- and challenge -- in the growing international effort to more efficiently utilize solar energy is developing new approaches that produce “green” renewable energy at costs that are equivalent to, and preferably much less than, the costs of fossil fuels. Come join us as Dr. Nozik explores the scientific and technological issues and advances in this essential endeavor.

Dr. Arthur Nozik is a Senior Research Fellow Emeritus of National Research Energy Laboratory (NREL), a Research Fellow at Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute (RASEI), and a Research Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Colorado Boulder. Dr. Nozik received his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University in 1959 and his PhD in Physical Chemistry from Yale University in 1967. He has received numerous honors and awards for his scientific contributions and is internationally recognized in the interdisciplinary fields of photoelectrochemistry, semiconductor-molecule interfaces, quantum size effects, electron relaxation dynamics in semiconductor quantum wells, quantum dots, quantum wires, and nanostructures, and applications of this science to improve solar photon conversion technologies. He and his family are long-time members of Congregation Bonai Shalom.
