This is an animated film based on the renowned children's book by Marvell Ginsburg, which has been educating children about the Holocaust for over 30 years. ​The story of the Tattooed Torah is a profound story of love, bonds across generations, tradition, resilience, and above all – a story of hope.

The adaptation of The Tattooed Torah into an animated short film is a three-generational endeavor, initiated by Marvell's daughter, Beth Kopin, who first had the dream to transform this book into a film, and is one of the executive producers. Beth will be joined by the film's producer and our very own local resident, Lisa Effress, director Marc Bennett, animator Christian Robins, film editor John Polk, composer Daniel Alcheck and narrator Ed Asner.

As a special offering for our local community Lisa Effress and her production company 11 Dollar Bill will be giving a goodie bag with treats and a copy of the book “The Tattooed Torah” for the first 18 registrants.

The program will begin with a 22-minute viewing of the film followed by a moderated panel discussion and Q&A.

This award-winning film is presented by The Goldrich Family Foundation in association with USC Shoah Foundation, executive producers Melinda Goldrich and Stephen Smith, produced by Lisa Effress of 11 Dollar Bill, animation by Jeffrey Pittle and Christian Robins, original score by Daniel Alcheh, and recorded by The Bow Tie Orchestra and Choir of Moscow, co-written by Brett Kopin and Marc Bennett, story by Greg Ferkel, directed by Marc Bennett, and narrated by Ed Asner.
